Known for her enigmatic and alluring nature, Yumi's path to becoming a skilled practitioner of Onmyōdō magic was shaped by a sequence of mystical encounters and profound understanding. Onmyōdō, a centuries-old Japanese esoteric tradition, revolves around the harmonious balance between yin and yang energies, as well as the interplay of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. A practitioner of Onmyodo is also called an Onmyōji.

At the outset of her journey, Yumi's life took an unexpected turn when she stumbled upon an ancient grimoire tucked away in a hidden corner of a dusty bookstore. Drawn inexplicably to the enormous power pulsating from its pages, Yumi began to study the intricate rituals and profound incantations inscribed within. With each passing day, her understanding of the esoteric arts deepened, allowing her to tap into the unseen forces around her.

However, during her era, the practice of magic became prohibited, and individuals began practicing their craft in seclusion. Concealing her abilities from her apprehensive spouse, who harbored a deep fear of all things magical, Yumi encountered a tragic fate one night. While engaging in a conversation with spirits, her husband, driven by his fears, impulsively took a knife and fatally stabbed her. He then burnt her body.

Yumi, now embodied in a porcelain doll, eagerly awaits to find her new caretaker. With unwavering loyalty and devotion, Yumi holds the power to greatly assist her keeper in countless ways—all one needs to do is seek her help.

Why she chooses to appear this way hasn’t been shared with me, but I find it intriguing.
